  • I like the idea of being able to play custom maps again. But the server has been significantly more dead since we switched to customs. Once the custom maps hit on the rotation.. the server clears out. Just an observation and it's been almost 10 days now with much less traffic. Check the stats. So can we switch back to stock rotation? And if we wanna play a custom. Can switch it.

    Trying to keep this game/server alive.

    I second this motion. I know I don't play everyday like all of y'all but when I do play the server is noticeably filled with less players than usual. Seems to die off more quickly as well. Didn't notice this until the customs were introduced into the server.

  • One alternative in the middle could be having something like 5 stock and 1 custom slot in rotation, but then changing the actual custom map between rotations. Something like:

    stock1-stock2-stock3-stock4-stock5-CUSTOM1-stock1-stock2-stock3-stock4-stock5-CUSTOM2-stock1-stock2-stock3-stock4-stock5-CUSTOM3... and then back to CUSTOM1

    For example:

    v2 - Algiers - Remagen - Bridge - DV - CUSTOM (e.g. Renan) - v2 - Algiers - Remagen - Bridge - DV - CUSTOM (e.g. St.Lo) - v2 - Algiers - Remagen - Bridge - DV - CUSTOM (e.g. Dasboot)

    Then, it would be a question about the stock/custom ratio and how many maps the full rotation consists of... My example was 5/1 with a 18-map rotation, but it could perhaps be is 6/2 with a 24 map rotation, or 12/2 with a 14 map rotation, etc.

  • You can't do that. It doesn't let you have a map in the maplist twice.

  • I see... In any case, if this was an idea that the admins deemed worth pursuing, we could think of possible workarounds to that limitation. The first that comes to mind would be to add duplicates of the maps (as many as the times we would like to play a given map during an entire rotation) with different names, e.g. obj_team2; obj_team2a; obj_team2b; obj_team2c would let the server play four times v2 in a given rotation. It is a very inelegant solution, and probably something better could be implemented using script only, but that would require more research.
